How to Register to Vote

Your last day to register to vote or update your registration online, automatically receive a mail ballot, with prepaid postage, is October 20th, 2026!

Eligibility Requirements

To register to vote, you must meet the Nevada standard registration requirements:

  • U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years of age by the next Election Day
  • A resident of your own county for at least 30 days and a resident in your precinct for at least 10 days
  • Unexpired, current NEVADA Department of Motor Vehicles (NV DMV) identification card (driver’s license, state ID card, or an interim document). An unexpired temporary “interim document” will be accepted.

Same-Day Registration

For new or updated voter registrations, voters can register to vote AND cast their ballot at a designated polling location during Early Vote or on Election Day from October 17th – October 30, 2026 and on November 3rd, 2026.

Voters who want to do Same Day Registration must have a current, unexpired NV issued ID to complete their voter registration. If a voter does not have a current NV issued ID, they must provide one of the additional documents below:

  • Military ID
  • Bank or Credit Union statement
  • Paycheck
  • Income tax return
  • Car registration or insurance
  • Utility Bill
  • Mortgage statement or lease agreement
  • Any government doc

Rights Restoration

With the passing of AB431 (2019), Nevadans who are formerly incarcerated, regardless of probation or parole status, have their right to vote automatically restored! Voters may register to vote by any available means.

Confidential Address Program (CAP):

Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking have the option to participate in CAP. This prevents them from being located through public records by providing them with a fictitious address and confidential mail forwarding services.

Find out more information by visiting the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) webpage.

**CAP participants will not show up on the voter roll and must vote by mail.

Voting By Mail in the 2026 General Election

All active, registered Nevada voters will automatically receive a mail ballot with prepaid postage for the 2026 General Election. Voting by mail is simple and convenient!

Fill out your ballot (you do not need to vote for every office or ballot question), seal it in the included return envelope, SIGN THE ENVELOPE on the outside, and return it by mail or at an official ballot drop-off location.

Important Dates for the 2026 General Election:

  • October 17 – October 30, 2026: Early Voting

  • Tuesday, October 27, 2026: The last day we recommend mailing your ballot to help ensure it arrives on time.

  • Tuesday, November 3, 2026: Election Day

We recommend mailing your completed ballot no later than Tuesday, October 27, 2026. After October 27, voters should return their completed and signed mail ballots in person at an official ballot drop box or designated voting location rather than relying on the mail.

  • October 5–12, 2026: Mail ballots are sent to active registered voters in Nevada. If you do not receive your ballot by the start of early voting on October 17, contact your county election department.

    • Clark County: (702) 455-8683

    • Washoe County: (775) 328-3670

  • November 3, 2026: Under Nevada law, mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day.

  • November 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM: Deadline for county election officials to receive timely postmarked mail ballots.

Returning Your Ballot at a Drop Box or Voting Location

Instead of mailing your ballot, you can fill it out, SIGN THE ENVELOPE, and return it to an official ballot drop box or designated voting location in your county.

  • October 17–30: Drop off your ballot during early voting at participating locations.

  • November 3: Drop off your ballot at an official Election Day location before polls close at 7:00 PM.

After October 27, we recommend dropping off your ballot instead of mailing it. You do not need to wait until Election Day to return your ballot.

Find official ballot drop-off locations:

A Trusted Individual CAN Drop Off Your Voted Mail Ballot

Nevada voters can designate a trusted individual, such as a family member or friend, to return their completed and signed mail ballot by mail or at an official ballot drop box or polling location. Nevada law permits individuals to return ballots on behalf of other voters, subject to applicable ballot-handling requirements.

Track Your Ballot

After returning your ballot, you can check its status online at MyBallot.NV.gov to confirm that election officials have received it.

Remember: Fill it out. Sign the envelope. Mail it by October 27, or drop it off by November 3.
