{"id":627,"date":"2022-05-05T21:38:50","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T21:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/registernevada.org\/?page_id=627"},"modified":"2024-09-13T20:45:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T20:45:52","slug":"voting-in-the-2022-primary-election-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/registernevada.org\/index.php\/voting-in-the-2022-primary-election-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Voting in the 2024 General Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>How to Register to Vote<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Your last day to register to vote or update your registration online, automatically receive a mail ballot, with prepaid postage, is <strong>October<\/strong><b> 22nd, 2024<\/b>!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To register to vote, you must meet the Nevada standard registration requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">U.S. citizen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At least 18 years of age by the next Election Day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A resident of your own county for at least 30 days and a resident in your precinct for at least 10 days<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Unexpired, current NEVADA Department of Motor Vehicles (NV DMV) identification card (driver\u2019s license, state ID card, or an interim document). An unexpired temporary \u201cinterim document\u201d will be accepted.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Same-Day Registration<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For new or updated voter registrations, voters can register to vote AND cast their ballot at a designated polling location during Early Vote or on Election Day from\u00a0<b>October 19th \u2013 November 1st, 2024 and on November 5th, 2024.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Voters who want to do Same Day Registration must have a current, unexpired NV issued ID to complete their voter registration. <strong>If a voter does not have a current NV issued ID, they must provide one of the additional documents below:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Military ID<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bank or Credit Union statement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Paycheck<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Income tax return<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Car registration or insurance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Utility Bill<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mortgage statement or lease agreement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Any government doc<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For updates to existing registrations, you can also do so in person 28 days before Election Day, on or before <strong>October 8th, 2024<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Rights Restoration<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With the passing of AB431 (2019), Nevadans who are formerly incarcerated, regardless of probation or parole status, have their right to vote automatically restored! Voters may register to vote by any available means.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Confidential Address Program (CAP):<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking have the option to participate in CAP. This prevents them from being located through public records by providing them with a fictitious address and confidential mail forwarding services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Find out more information by visiting the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) <\/b><\/span><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/dcfs.nv.gov\/Programs\/CAP\/CONFIDENTIAL_ADDRESS_PROGRAM\/\"><b>webpage.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>**CAP participants will not show up on the voter roll and must vote by mail.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Voting By Mail in the 2024 General Election<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All active, registered voters will automatically receive a mail ballot with prepaid postage. Simply fill out your ballot (you don\u2019t need to vote for every office), seal it in its included return envelope, <b><i>SIGN THE ENVELOPE<\/i><\/b> on the outside, and drop it in the mailbox.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mail ballots arrive by <b>September 23rd<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/b><b>2022<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! <\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you do not receive your mail ballot by the beginning of <b>Early Voting Week 1: (October 22nd-29th, 2022)<\/b>\u00a0immediately contact your local Elections Department at (702) 455-8683 (Clark County) or (775) 328-3670 (Washoe County).<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ballots must be postmarked ON or BEFORE Tuesday, <b>November 8th<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/b><b>2022<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/b> and received by 5:00 PM on Saturday, <b>November 10th, 2022<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fill out your ballot and drop it off at a designated polling location or ballot dropbox:<\/b> Instead of mailing your ballot, fill it out, as described above, SIGN THE ENVELOPE, and drop off your ballot at a designated polling location or ballot dropbox of your choice, from <b>October 22nd<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; <\/b><b>November 4th<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/b>or on election day,\u00a0<b>November 8th.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For a list and schedule for drop-off locations in Clark County, go here.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For drop-off locations in Washoe County, go here.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>A trusted individual CAN drop off your voted mail ballot: <\/b>Voters can designate a trusted individual (family member or friend) to turn in their ballot by mail, ballot drop box, or polling location. There is no limit to the number of ballots a person may drop off.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Voting In Person in the 2024 General Election<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Vote in-person during Early Voting (October 19th &#8211; November 1st, 2024) or on Election Day (November 5th, 2024): <\/b>You will be required to \u201csurrender\u201d your blank mail-in ballot or sign a form that says you will not attempt to vote with that mail-in ballot.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">See a list of early vote locations for Clark County here and Washoe County here. You may register to vote, drop off your ballot, or vote in person at these locations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For Election Day locations, find Washoe County here. Clark County Election Day locations here.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In-person voting locations will take precautions to provide social distancing, enhanced cleaning, and hygiene, and will have extra masks for voters.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Remember:<\/b> if you vote using the ballot you receive in the mail to SIGN THE OUTSIDE of the envelope on the designated line. This is how the Election Department will verify your ballot. If you don\u2019t sign, your County or City\u2019s Election Department will attempt to contact you to verify your ballot. If you don\u2019t respond, your ballot will NOT be counted! Sign your envelope!<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>November 12th, 2024: Last Day to Cure Ballots\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>What does it mean when a ballot needs to be \u201ccured?\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A ballot needs to be cured when there is a discrepancy or missing signature.
